“Five monumental Russian composers raise their voices in this concert. Tchaikovsky’s soaring and soulful melodies live on through this tribute from his disciple Anton Arensky. We feature Principal Cellist Moisés Molina in Rachmaninoff’s endless melody, the Vocalise. And writing in the year of the Russian Revolution, “bad boy” Prokofiev serves up a cheeky take on music’s classical roots. – Scott Speck, music director
