The Mobile Symphony Orchestra (MSO) presents Bella Musica, a concert packed with beautiful music, featuring brilliant violinist Bella Hristova performing Saint Saëns’ dazzling Third Concerto.
“We’re so happy to welcome back star violinist Bella Hristova, a decade after she made her acclaimed MSO debut,” MSO Music Director Scott Speck says. “This time she’ll thrill us with a barn-burner of a violin concerto by Saint-Saëns.” Audience can expect her to exceed her showstopping performance from 201l.
“The concert title, Bella Musica, is Italian, and we have two Italian pieces on the program: Rossini’s overture to The Thieving Magpie, my favorite Rossini overture, and Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony,” Speck explains. “This is the piece for which Mendelssohn is most well-known. He took a trip from his home in Germany down to Italy and was so suffused with such relaxation, joy and celebration that he had to write a piece about it.”
Program:
Rossini | La gazza ladra (The Thieving Magpie) Overture
Saint-Saens Violin Concerto No. 3
Bella Hristova, violin
Mendelssohn | Symphony No. 4 Italian
All concerts are subject to change.
