We are currently searching for an experienced DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

 

Reporting directly to the CEO/president, the development director plans, manages and leads the MSO’s fundraising efforts, including individual giving, foundation and government grants, and corporate appeals. Implementing a comprehensive development program that meets targeted revenue goals, the development director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Individual Giving

  • Cultivates and nutures concert and musician sponsors and other major donors
  • Analyzes donor and ticketing data from the MSO’s CRM to conduct the annual fund drive, consisting of four or more direct-mail campaigns and digital appeals
  • Identifies candidates for giving-level moves and solicits increased giving.

Grant Writing

  • Researches, writes, oversees implementation, assesses and reports results for government, foundation and corporate grants.

Corporate Giving

  • Prepares and presents sponsorship proposals
  • Identifies and solicits new corporate prospects
  • Ensures that sponsorship commitments are met.

Board Development Committee

  • Works with committee to plan season goals and initiatives
  • Steers committee in identifying, soliciting and stewarding donors.

Stewardship & Donor Events

  • Organizes donor/sponsor benefits programs
  • Plans, organizes and evaluates donor-engagement events, including season reveal party, guest artist receptions and special events with musicians.

Concerts

  • Works all concerts
  • Works with President/CEO to meet concert sponsors
  • With CEO, handles audience issues during concerts
  • Greets patrons and manages Intermezzo Lounge

Required skills/experience: Mobile Symphony is seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ experience in fundraising or a related field. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to work with CRM software is required. Candidates must possess the highest level of professionalism and strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of and passion for classical music are a plus.

Hours and Benefits:
