Kristin Pfeifer Yu


Violinist Kristin Pfeifer Yu is Lecturer of Violin and Director of the South Georgia String Project at Valdosta State University, where she also serves as Principal Second Violin for the Valdosta Symphony Orchestra, and second violinist for the Azalea String Quartet. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Kristin began playing violin at the age of four.

Throughout her career, Kristin has performed with numerous orchestras including the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Opera Naples, and the Southwest Florida Orchestra.

Kristin received her Doctor of Music from Florida State University, where she studied with and served as graduate teaching assistant to Eliot Chapo, former concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic and Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

When not performing or teaching, you can find Kristin and her husband, MSO violist Laurel Yu, at Walt Disney World.
