Oscar-winning composer James Horner has been described by many as a “giant of the film scoring world.” Horner, who passed away in 2015, was the composer for many great films including Aliens, Titanic, Brave Heart, Avatar, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and many others! In our upcoming American Masters of Film concert, Mobile Symphony will be performing a selection from his first Star Trek movie, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn. Below is an interview where he discusses his process in coming up with the memorable “seafaring” theme that would shape one of, if not the, most iconic Star Trek films.
