Rebecca Mindock


MindockDr. Rebecca Mindock, currently the Associate Professor of Double Reeds at the University of South Alabama, joined the Mobile Symphony in 2011. She is also the principal oboist of both the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra and the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs with the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra. During the summer, she teaches at the Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, Colorado.

Dr. Mindock received both her Doctor of Musical Arts and Masters of Music degrees from the University of Colorado-Boulder, studying with Peter Cooper and James Brody, and she received her bachelors in Music and English Literature from the College of William and Mary. She has previously held chairs in the Victoria Symphony and the Longmont Symphony, and has performed with the Meridian Symphony, the Kingsville Symphony Orchestra, the Boulder Bach Festival, the Fort Collins Symphony, Colorado Mahlerfest, and the Colorado Symphony. She has performed and given master classes nationally and internationally, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.

Dr. Mindock loves to travel, be it for work or leisure; she has been to all 50 states and has set foot on 6 of the 7 continents. When she is not performing, making reeds, or grading, she enjoys hiking and spending time curled up with a good book and a friendly cat
